From former Rockwell International concept artist, Stan Jones, this
painting depicts the return of the Belle and the 91st Bomb Group from a mission. While
Col. Morgan and the Belle completed their 25 missions, other crews were not as lucky. The
ground crew in the next hard stand wait anxiously for the return of their plane, as the
radio operator of the Belle shrugs his shoulders to them, confirming their suspicions of
the worst.

The Belle of Bassingbourn is
a limited edition print depicting the moment on May 17, 1943 as the ground crews of the
91st stand on the field of Bassingbourn watching the bombers return from their mission.
They have particularly been anticipating the return of The Memphis Belle, and after Capt.
Morgan makes his victory pass over the airfield, he pulls the Belle up as he passes the
tower, bringing her almost directly over their heads. Printed on 100# acid free
stock, the edition consist of 500 Prints and 50 Artists Proofs, each signed and numbered
by the artist and by the pilot, Col. Robert Morgan, with Certificate of
Authenticity.
